I just love it when people give me books. I just love books J. And I can judge people based on the books they choose: do they know me really well? I have a twisted mind and that reflects itself on my favorite reading list.

One of the best books ever offered to me (tx Kate!) is Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson. The science fiction novel triggers my interest in computers, virtual worlds, the power of language, viral marketing and ancient civilizations.   William Gibson touched me deeply with pattern recognition. Stephenson intrigued me from beginning to end. You’ll just have to read the book, and follow Hiro Protagonist. And discover what I do for a living: condense fact from the vapor of nuance…. J

The Metaverse

Snow Crash is a science fiction novel written by Neal Stephenson and published in 1992. It is set in a future where virtual reality has become a dominant form of entertainment and communication, and follows the story of a hacker named Hiro Protagonist as he navigates the virtual world (he co-created) known as the Metaverse.

In Snow Crash, the Metaverse is a virtual reality world, made very real. It is a vast, immersive space where people can interact with each other and with computer-generated objects and environments. The Metaverse is also a place where people can conduct business, attend virtual events, and even live out their wildest fantasies.

Metaverse, the alpha version

Snow Crash has had a lasting impact on popular culture, influencing many other works of science fiction and helping to establish the concept of the Metaverse as a mainstream idea. It has been cited as an inspiration for a variety of virtual reality projects and has even spawned a number of fan-made projects and communities.

Snow Crash has had a significant impact on the way that people think about virtual reality and the potential of the Metaverse and cyber-security. Its portrayal of a seamless and immersive virtual world has helped to shape the way that people imagine and explore the possibilities of virtual reality and has influenced a wide range of other works and projects.

And you will never look at a pizza deliverer in an innocent way again 🙂
